R3Connect

Bringing research to life...

Music

As part of the R3connect project a piece of music was commissioned by composer Nicholas Peters to translate research findings into music. The piece ‘Maintaining Effort’ has three movements. The first movement ‘Under the surface’ explores the lived experience of living with a mental health condition, the daily challenges and how someone’s identity can become overwhelmed. The second movement ‘Reconnect’ reflects the reconnection people can experience when engaging in community arts. The final movement ‘Living well’ represents the reality of recovery and staying steady in a society full of barriers and challenges. Community arts present safe spaces to help people live as well as they can.
