About R3Connect
The R3connect project presents a series of artistic reactions to research by Psychologist Dr Louisa Peters, that explores how creative activities help people to live well with mental health conditions (link opens new window). The project was run through Art Anon (link opens new window), a Manchester based arts collective. In May-July 2023 R3Connect ran a free animation course funded by The National Lottery Community Fund for individuals with lived experience. The course was designed and run by the talented artist and researcher Doll (link opens new window), with special guest artist Michelle Duxbury (link opens new window) from Loose Screw Film Festival (link opens new window). The course resulted in seven short animations being produced by participants which will be screened during the R3Connect live tour.
In addition a new piece of music was commissioned from composer Nicholas Peters to translate the research findings into a piece of music performed by Leeds based ensemble The Clothworkers Quartet.
R3connect Live! 2024: An immersive experience of art, animation and music
R3connect toured community venues across the North of England in 2024, plus an online screening, showcasing artworks from the research and animation course, screening animations and a performance from String Quartet, The Clothworkers Quartet (link opens new window). These live events have been funded by Creative Minds (link opens new window) and The National Lottery Community Fund (link opens new window), so we could offer these for FREE.
